National Vice Chairperson of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anita De Soso has disclosed that she vigorously campaigned for the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Collins Owusu Amankwah to be elected as Parliamentary Candidate during the NPP primary.

According to her, she as a staunch member of the NDC undertook that action because some NPP bigwigs had targeted the MP and dealt with him in an unfair manner with the aim of kicking him out of Parliament.

Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa, won the mandate of the delegates to represent the party in the December Parliamentary election in the primary held on July 2 .

Amankwa after the competitive contest polled 185 votes to beat the heavily favoured candidate, Akwasi Kunadu and Nana Osei Banfo to represent the party a second time.

Akwasi Kunadu and Nana Osei Banfo garnered 171 and 129 votes respectively out of the total 489 votes cast.

Collins Amankwa’s victory brought to an end the protracted conflict that led to the series of postponement of the constituency’s primary.

Speaking to Sit-in-host, Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa1o2.5 FM, Anita De Soso who condemned the internal wrangling in the NPP stated that she does not regret her actions in campaigning for the MP.

“The Manhyia North MP after he was slapped by the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, he (MP) stated that he loved his chairman simply because he feared he’ll be voted against during the party’s primary later.

“I was in Kumasi during their election and I advised the voters to vote massively for the MP. Why did they change the album only for the last election in a bid to scuttle the chances of the MP, when they had used the same album in electing Nana Akufo Addo and the Regional Chairman during elections? You see that when Nana Akufo Addo was visiting the Otumfuo, the MP was nowhere to be found. Either Akufo Addo didn’t inform him, or he just didn’t go. This goes to tell you the problems that the MP is having with party.”
