President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has described late Mahama Adams as a man of dignity for not attempting to hurt anybody after he was attacked by the people of Denkyira Boase.

According to the president of the Republic of Ghana, late Mahama could have shot any of the attackers but he acted like a hero and died a painful death.

He said the whole nation is horrified by the action and upset about the sad situation and government will not let the suspects go scot free.

He, however, disclosed that murdered soldier, Captain Adams Mahama will be given a state burial on Friday, June 9.

He added that government officials will be present at the state house to give him a full state burial to support the family.

"All government officials will be at the state house on Friday, June 9 to give Major Mahama a full State burial but it’s unfortunate I will not be in the country but my spirit will be with deceased wife", Nana Addo said.

Addressing the family during a visit to commiserate with them today June 5, 2017, the President said the outpouring of condemnation and condolences following the demise of the soldier are reminders that he has become a “big national hero.”

A National Monument is also to be built and named after Major Maxwell Adams Mahama.

The President made these known when he called on the family of the deceased soldier at Burma Camp Monday evening to express his condolences on their loss.

Captain Mahama who served with the 5 Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces, Burma Camp, and Accra but was on detachment duties at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central region, was lynched by a mob on suspicion he was an armed robber on May 29th.

This was after some women whom he bought snails from while on a walk, saw a pistol tucked beneath his shirt and informed the assemblyman for the area who also organized the youth to attack and lynch him.
