Binduri MP focuses on poverty alleviation

Mr Ben Noah Azure, Member of Parliament (MP) for Binduri, and former National Best Teacher has assured to alleviate the poverty in the constituency to improve the lives of the people.


“I am praying that God should give me the grace to access the needs of my people and be able to deliver accordingly,” he said, adding I am hoping to alleviate poverty among my people.”

The MP, who will be seeking re-election to the Legislature in the 2016 polls, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in parliament that, he was optimistic his constituents would retain him to continue with the developments projects he has initiated and was working on.

He said the turnout of legislators in the same constituency had not helped to accelerate development as a result of lack of continuity in fashioning out projects, saying, “the other MPs who came before me did what they could, but I have done a lot since my entry into the august house for the pass two and a half years.

“My people know what I can do. I was the National Best Teacher for 2011, once the Regional Best teacher, the District Best Teacher and a teacher at the Bolgatanga Senior High School, teaching science and agric science.”

Some of the projects the MP said he had carried out covered education, health, water, sanitation, and rural electrification.

He named some of the communities in the constituency as Bansi, Barabogo, Kuloko, Kulovi, Aniisisi, Narangu, Naransagu, Yabugu, Bawkwusebele, Kpatarigu, Manga, Baase and Pwalugu.

Others are Avondaago, Nayoho No 1, Naboya,Gotisalaga, Bokokusapeliga, Bawkutempeli and Tambiru.

On education Mr Azuri pledged to help complete a six classroom block at Goore, which is at the roofing level, with assistance from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (Get FUND).

He said a sod had been cut for the construction of a Senior High School with assistance from the World Bank, and that, the contractor has already moved to the site.

“I have also presented a laptop and a printer to the District Education Directorate and assisting with the construction of a pavilion at Yalungu”, adding that, he had acquired 7,000 exercise books and 2,000 math sets to be distributed to schools in the district.

On health, the MP said, he has rehabilitated a structure at Aniisi for a health post, also CHIP compounds at Manga and Maase, and was in the process of providing furniture for the District Health Directorate, which he has already presented eight motor bikes to.

He said a number of wells have been developed under his watch, from his share of the MP’s Common Fund in a number of communities.

Mr Azuri spoke of activities to improve sanitation in the constituency and commended Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Local of Government and Rural Development for being in the region to supervise a recent National Sanitation Day exercise.

He however appealed to individuals and organizations to help the communities with bins and transportation to help improve cleanliness in the area.

The Binduri MP commended the communal spirit of the constituents and appealed for more support to bring development to the people.
