Atwima-Nwabiagya circuit supervisors perform creditably in 2005

Nkawie (Ash), Dec. 26, GNA - In spite of financial and logistical constraints, circuit supervisors in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Education Directorate performed creditably to improve teaching and learning in the basic schools. Mr Wilson Awuah-Dartey, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Quality and Access at the directorate, who announced this, said the supervisors intensified their routine supervision of schools and effectively monitored the application of the capitation grant introduced this year.

He was reviewing the achievements of the Inspectorate Unit of the directorate at its end of year meeting and at a get-together at Nkawie at the weekend.

Mr Awuah-Dartey asked the officers not be daunted by the numerous constraints facing them but strive hard to sustain the district's academic achievement. Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Human Resource Management and Development, asked the officers to be self-initiative and put in more efforts to improve performance.

He advised them to be polite, cautious and tolerant with teachers, parents and other stakeholders, who come in contact with them to win their respect. Mr Asare-Bediako was, however, not happy with the attitude of some officers and staff to work and charged them to change. The Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Finance and Administration, Mr Joe Kingsley Ofori, asked them to desist from undermining their colleagues and officers and spreading false rumours, which he said, affects performance and unity. Mr Richard Owusu-Agyemang, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of public relations and the District's Community Participation Co-ordinator (CPC), commended teachers in the district for performing creditably in spite of some constraints and reported cases of community hostilities.

He advised the school communities to offer the needed assistance, encouragement and protection to teachers especially those in the rural areas to enable them perform satisfactorily.
