...Plane Isn't Safe, DOT Officials Say

WASHINGTON -- Almost 200 passengers booked on a Ghana Airways flight were stranded at a Maryland hotel Tuesday night.

The Department of Transportation is refusing to let the plane take off from Baltimore-Washington International Airport, and the passengers' anger and frustration have reached the boiling point.

"Nobody cares," said passenger Wilhemina Amnenyor. "They don't care. It's frustrating. We don't know what to do."

The passengers have been stranded since Monday. Federal investigators say the plane is not safe and the airline allowed its license to expire.

"We find it very demeaning to be put in this position," said passenger James Logan. "I have no change of clothes because my luggage is already checked in."

The DOT says recent actions have raised serious questions regarding safety and licensing, which must be answered before the airline will be allowed to resume service.

A representative for the airline said the plane was safe.

"What's wrong with the plane? There's nothing wrong with the plane," said Collins Fosu. "There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original plane."

DOT officials are hoping to make a decision Wednesday regarding the flight to Ghana.
