Teachers urged to work harder

Gomoa Kokofu (C/R), March 7, GNA - The Assemblyman for Gomoa Kokofu-Mampong, Mr Fred Oscar Abban, has called on teachers to work hard to improve the standard of education.

They should also refrain from lifestyles, which could bring their profession into disrepute and endanger their lives. Mr Abban gave the advice at the 47t Independence parade for school children and voluntary organisations at Gomoa Kokofu. He called on the people of the two communities to unite to accelerate the development of the area.

The assemblyman commended the government for providing a three-classroom block for the towns from the HIPC fund and rehabilitating the old school block.

Mr Abban announced plans for the construction of a computer centre and a library for the communities.

He presented exercise books and pens to the school children and advised them to take their lessons seriously to enable them become useful citizens in future.

"The efforts you put into your education would make you what you want to be in the future", he stressed. He promised to reward teachers of pupils who excel in this year's BECE.
