Ekumfi Ahmadiyya Secondary wins quiz

Ekumfi Essarkyir (C/R), Mar 7, GNA - Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School at Ekumfi Essarkyir in the Central Region, has won a quiz competition organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana for secondary schools under its Education Unit.

Five out of the eight schools under the Mission participated in the competition held in Kumasi as part of the activities of the 75th National Annual Conference of the Mission (Jalsa Salana). Ekumfi scored 54th points followed by Wa with 51 points while Kumasi placed third with 42 points with the other contestants being Adansi Fomena and Gomoa Potsin.

Interacting with the Ghana News Agency on the school's performance at Essarkyir, Master Zac Mohammed Dawood, Assistant School Prefect, said the competition and recent publication of the "league table" of the 2003 senior secondary school certificate examination results have made him and his colleagues to realise that they could rob shoulders with students in the endowed schools.

He said they have shed-off their inferiority complex and would face any competition and examination with determination and confidence. Miss Yusif Khadija, Senior Prefect and Miss Juliet Akafo, Assistant Girls Prefect, commended the Headmaster and staff for their dedication, support and encouragement.

"No one can regard our school now as a village school," Miss Khadija said.

Ekumfi Ahmadiyya Secondary School placed 132 out of 476 schools in the 2003 SSSCE results.
