Japanese government provides school for Kajelo

Kajelo (U/E), Oct. 24, GNA - A six-classroom primary school block built at a cost of 253 million cedis through Japanese assistance has been commissioned at Kajelo near Navrongo, in the Kassena-Nankana District of the Upper East Region.

The Japanese government funded the construction and furnishing of the school through a grant and supervision by the Oasis Japan-Ghana Association, a Japanese Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).

Mr. Paul Allou, Special Assistant to the Regional Minister, who commissioned the block underscored the critical role education plays in the socio-economic development of society.

"The present global challenges of poverty, unemployment, diseases and disasters" could only be effectively tackled through a solid and efficient human resource base, he pointed out.

He repeated the government's commitment towards improving the quality of education in order to achieve its vision of propelling the country out of its present economic difficulties.

The Special Assistant expressed government's appreciation to the country's development partners and the Japanese government in particular for keeping faith with the Ghanaians people.

Mr. Allou commended the chiefs and people of Kajelo for their communal spirit and advised them to take messages on the HIV/AIDS pandemic seriously since the disease could draw back the gains they had worked tirelessly to achieve.

The Kassena-Nankana District Chief Executive, Mr. George Dan-yare, thanked the Japanese government for the assistance and appealed to other development partners to assist less endowed communities to provide their own school buildings.

The DCE said the Assembly committed a high percentage of its resources to education and appealed to the School Management Committee, the District Education Office and the teachers to ensure the proper maintenance of the school.

The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy in Accra, Mr. Koichi Mizushima, said his government attached great importance to education as the most valued resource in all modern economies. Mr Mizushima advised the people to take good care of the school, so that future generations could benefit from it.
