Maiden student leaders forum underway in Accra

The Leadership Empowerment and Entrepreneurial Development (LEED) on Friday opened a two-day youth development forum for student leaders in tertiary institutions in Ghana.

The first ever student’s forum, which is underway in Accra, seeks to structure and present a leadership and entrepreneurial programme that would harness the full potential inherent and embedded in student leaders and also guide them in their current and future endeavours.

The forum is on the theme “Creating the Next Generation of Leaders: The Role of the Student Leaders.”

Mr Regional Laryea, Chairman of Board of Directors of the Ghana News Agency said the easiest way to become an entrepreneur is to dream big, being creative, add value to all you do and identify and satisfy a need in society.

He said the fundamentals of being a good business manager is to have a good plan, be a good organiser, have a direction, take control and be credible in whatever business entity you are going in to setup and manage.

Mr Laryea who was speaking on the topic: “Entrepreneurial Development and Business Management said there is the need for entrepreneurs to set-up a long term plan, develop a budget, adapt a good strategy to see their businesses through and a business plan that should always be thought through.

He noted that to make a business well organised one must find the right people to do the right thing at the right time watch time consumption and be efficient in whatever the enterprise is about.

The Board Chairman said there must be regulations which would guide the business to succeed and in order to control such ventures, they should be opened to feed backs channels, seek corrective measures, analyse their budgets and to be ready to adapt changing trends and must be a credible to be trusted.

Ms Rebecca Donkor, Executive Director of LEED said with dreams of attaining leadership roles and also excelling as an entrepreneur, there is nothing better than getting first-hand information on where one wants to go.

She said to achieve these objectives; it is a privilege to tap into the experience of tested and renowned speakers and special guest of all sectors.

Speakers of the forum includes Mr George Andah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rudder Solutions, Mr Mawuko Afadzinu, Marketing Manager of Stanbic Bank, Mr Kwame Addo-Kuffour, Vice President, Corporate Affairs of Anglogold Ashanti, Mr James Ebo Whyte, CEO Roverman Production and Mr David Kofi Wuaku, Board Chairman of Wealth Vision Financial Services.
