Minister speaks against indiscipline by the youth

Mr. Eric Opoku, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has said the increasing rate of indiscipline in the country was weakening the pillars that had kept communities united, stable and focused for centuries.

He said this in a speech read for him at the opening of a three-day Second Biennial Council Meeting of the Boys Bigade – Ghana at Sunyani.

The Meeting was attended by representatives of all the 463 boys’ brigade companies of orthodox churches throughout the country and was under the theme “Changing The Face of The Boys Brigade”.

Mr. Opoku said indiscipline was on the rise among the youth and it was killing the nation’s human resource development, interpersonal relations, social, political, and economic development.

He said commended the organizers of the

programme and appealed to religious bodies to continue with their good works.

Mr Oppong also urged parents to encourage and support their children to join brigade groups and take keen interest in their activities.

He told the members not to limit themselves to the core training activities of the organization but explore other areas of importance to enhance their scope of knowledge.

The Rev Dr. Kofi Effa Ababio, Presbytery Chairman of West Brong Presbytery, Sunyani, the guest speaker, said the changing face of

Boys Brigade would demand complete change of attitude and behavior.

Rev. Ababio said such a change would need the spiritual backing or reincarnation of the members, rather than concentration on mere body efforts.

Mr. Kwamina Ollennu Amponah-Dadie, a lawyer and executive

President of Boys Brigade-Ghana, said there was the need to change the face of the Organisation.
