MEST to train software entrepreneurs

Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - The Management of Meltwater Entrepreneurial Schoo= l of Technology (MEST) in Accra, has received applications for the training and development of global software entrepreneurs from Ghana. The objective is to create wealth and jobs in Ghana by training and mentoring graduates to start their own software companies to compete successfully in the global marketplace.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Management copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday.

The training involved a two-year full scholarship programme focused on market-oriented software development and practical entrepreneurship to provide the beneficiaries with practical skills and resources needed to start a company that could compete on the global market. In addition, there would be a full time in-house training in commercia= l software development and entrepreneurship within an international environment; an international faculty with over 20 years experience in software development and international business. The statement said beneficiaries would have the opportunity to join th= e MEST Incubator, where start-up companies would receive seed funding, office space and mentoring to get their companies started.

The applicants should be university graduates or final year students completing by July 2011 or diploma holders, and deadline for application is Sunday, April 17, 2011. "It is our hope that these software entrepreneurs will inspire generations to follow in their footsteps," the statement said.
