Nyaho-Tamakloe: I will cater for NPP Foot-soldiers

Ashaiman, Nov. 17, GNA - Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday assured foot-soldiers of the party that he would take them on board when given the mandate to serve as the Greater-Accra Regional Chairman.

Launching his campaign for the position in Ashaiman, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said he was motivated by the belief that when NPP won the 2012 elections, "no single NPP foot-soldier who has toiled in the trenches, should be left behind".

The race for the Regional Chairmanship of the party is slated for December 7, and so far, three leading members of the party including Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, had declared their intentions to contest. The other two candidates are Mr Joseph Ayikoi Otoo and Mr George Isaac Amoo.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe assured party faithfuls that there was not going to be a repetition of the causes that led to the defeat of NPP in 2008. He said that was the more reason why "I believe in re-connecting the party with the grassroots".

He urged members of the party to vote for an experienced politician like him, pointing out that "this is not the time for experimentation, but for tried and tested leadership that has consistently been with the party since its inception.

He pledged to work tirelessly with committed and hardworking constituency executives and foot-soldiers, to enable the region to contribute its quota in votes to ensure the party's victory come 2012. Professor Mike Oquaye, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo and Mrs Frances Ewuraba Essiam, leading members of the party, who took turns to speak at the campaign-launch, asked members to close their ranks and forge ahead in unity, in order to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress Government in 2012. 17 Nov. 09
