Boaduahene warns against cutting of electric wires

Boadua (E/R), Jan. 15, GNA - The Boaduahene, Barimah Owusu Konadu II, has warned against stealing of electric cables and told his people to be on the lookout for those responsible.

"Those who steal electric cables are anti-social elements and nation-wreckers who seek their selfish ends at the expense of development and national progress."

Speaking at a durbar organized by the first woman district assembly member for Boadua, Miss Comfort Duruwaa, Barima Owusu Konadu said electricity was being extended to most areas of the town but some people had been cutting the wires for sale.

He said it was only vigilance that could halt them in their tracks. Nana Boaduahene called on the people to keep the town clean by avoiding indiscriminate dropping of polythene and empty water sachets and dumping of refuse.

He said now that a company had started house-to-house collection of household garbage, there was no reason why the town should not be clean. He said every child of school going age should be at school since no parent could have any excuse for keeping a child at home with the introduction of the Capitation Grant.

Barima Konadu called on the people to support the assemblywoman whose election had shown that women could rub shoulders with men in politics.

The Presiding Member of the Kwaebibirem District Assembly, Mr George Aboagye, said communal spirit in most areas in the district had either warned or was completely dead.

There was therefore the need to revive it since it was one sure way of advancing development.
