A 1.5 billion-cedi electrification project for Garu

Garu (UER), Aug.23, GNA - A 1.5 billion-cedi electrification project for Garu Township in the Garu-Tempane District in the Upper East Region has been completed and handed over to the district assembly. The project executed by Samdimms Company limited, a Bawku-based contractor was financed from the assembly's share of the Common Fund. Mr. Emmanuel Sin-yet Asigri, Garu-Tempane District Chief Executive inspecting the project, commended the contractor for quality work and completing the project within the scheduled period.

He said the project would provide the needed security and improve the living standards of the people especially during the night. Mr. Asigri noted that the commendation by the Ministry of Energy for the project was a testimony on the need to give a facelift to the district capital.

He was optimistic that the project would be maintained to prolong its lifespan to serve the intended purpose for the people. Handing over the project, Mr. Mohammed Murtala Ibrahim, Managing Director of Samdimms, said the quality of work showed the capability of local contractors when given the opportunity to undertake projects. He entreated local contractors to strive to execute works given to them on schedule to improve the living standards of beneficiary communities.
