Akufo-Addo in Johannesburg

Nana Akufo-Addo wows the Ghanaian professional community in Johannesburg south Africa

at a seminar organized by the PanAvest Foundation and Development Trust, the corporate social responsibility arm of PanAvest International & Development Corporation In its quest to foster sustainable socio-economic growth through democratic governance, the PanAvest Foundation recently hosted the flag bearer of NPP, Nana Akufo- Addo at a packed seminar attended by leading Ghanaian professionals based in South Africa.

In his maiden address, Nana openly shared his vision of further moving Ghana forward through targeted industrialisation, empowerment of Ghanaians and in particular assisting with small business development. He further mentioned that part of the NPP’s strategy was to set up an industrial development fund to assist with the growth of small medium sized enterprises in Ghana “irrespective of political affiliation”. As regards strengthening Ghana’s democratic structures to accelerate socio-economic growth, Nana talked of the need to review regional structures to optimize service delivery and improve sub regional growth. Through such review he hoped to bring lasting peace to Northern Ghana which has been bedeviled with pockets of chieftaincy conflicts. Nana also bemoaned the underutilization of land in the northern part of the country for the production of sufficient food and promised to undertake an aggressive campaign to make sure that the region’s arable land is put to good use. On the discovery of significant oil reserves, he emphasized that Ghana had taken careful note of the unfortunate incidences in the Niger Delta. In order not to repeat the same mistakes NPP was in the process of crafting strategies and implementation plans to ensure that Ghanaians significantly benefit from “black gold”. Speaking to the attendees after Nana’s speech, Dr Douglas Boateng Founder and President of PanAvest International commented that Ghana’s socio economic development is inextricably linked to democratic governance and hoped that all Ghanaians including those in the Diaspora will play their part in building the nation for the future generations.
