GUWA Meeting
[358618]
Meeting: Ghana Upper Westerners Association of New York (GUWA)
The next meeting of The Ghana Upper Westerners Association of New York is scheduled for Sunday, August 31 at 5.00pm at 642 E. 83rd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11236.
GUWA of New York was recently inaugurated on August 2, 2014 in the Bronx, NY amidst inspiring and supportive messages and a festive ambiance.
The occasion began with a prayer invoking Godâ??s blessings on GUWA, all the people in attendance and for the realization of the goals of the association. In his welcome address Mr. Adama Forgah, Vice-President of GUWA, gave a brief history of the association highlighting the importance of Ghanaian Upper Westerners coming together, making themselves known to their fellow Ghanaians, and supporting one another. Mr. Cletus Siebune then outlined the objectives of the association after which the representative of the Ghana Consulate in New York assured the association of the support of the Ghana Consulate while also advising members against â??apathy, pettiness and bickering among key personalitiesâ?? of the association. In another presentation, Dr. Valerian Nakaar, President of Northern Ghanaians Association of New England (NGANE) encouraged GUWA members to be united and to keep a close relationship with NGANE.
Other messages of support came from Boniface Dakurah who is a member of NGANE and representatives of the Ghana Upper East Community.
GUWA is a fraternal association that seeks to provide a forum for Ghanaians from the Upper West region of Ghana, and any Ghanaian who wants a community of support, to meet, to get to know one another, and to support one another in times of joy and sorrow (wedding, childbirth, funeral, etc). Members meet once a month on the last Sunday of the month to fraternize and discuss issues that are relevant to the objectives of the association.
Any one from the Upper West region of Ghana or any Ghanaian in the Tri-State area who is interested in becoming a member of this fraternal association is welcome to come and join us.
Anyone who is interested in knowing more about GUWA or in joining the association may contact the following people:

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly [are] not so: but [are] like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. call Bishop Bonegas on 0243531301 God bless You.

6th BAFFOUR CHARITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT & FESTIVAL
[356089]
NGOZI in collaboration with West African Community Collaborative (WACC) are pleased to announce the 6th Annual Baffour Charity Soccer Tournament & West Africa Community Festival on July 19th, 2014

Baffour is a vibrant and energetic young man full of life filled with dreams and aspirations. He was involved in a car accident on the morning of January 31, 2006, while on his way back from work. He suffered severe injuries to his spinal cord, which left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Due to reasons beyond his control, Baffour did not qualify for medical assistance. FRIENDS OF BAFFOUR with the help of NGOZI organized the first ever Baffour Charity Soccer Tournament in 2009 to raise funds to assist Baffour.

After years of researching on ways to find help, Baffour saw that there are other people within the community with similar situations or worse who do not have the wonderful support system he benefited from. He decided to join NGOZI to continue organizing the soccer tournament every year, in order to help members of the communities in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area who find themselves in some form of predicament. The Baffour Soccer Tournament is therefore organized annually with participating teams from local social organizations and sport clubs, 2014 is the 6th year.

Part of the proceeds from the 2014 event will be donated to the African Community Resource Center building project and The Courage F.U.N Program. For more information on these organizations, please visit the following websites http://acrcusa.org, www.pwsi.org, www.friendsofbaffour.com, and www.ngozi.org.

For registration of Soccer Teams, Donations, Sponsorship and Vendoring opportunity for the 2014 event, please visit our website www.ngozi.org. NGOZI is a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and contributions to NGOZI are tax-deductible.

GONE TOO SOON
[354296]
TRIBUTE TO THE LATE GARY ABAKA â??AMUAH (Aged 16)

A mighty tree has fallen, the family, Worcester Public Schools, Burncoat High School have been thrown into a state of Mourning. Grieve Counselors have been put to work, my Great Cousin Gary Jojo Abaka Amuah (16) is no more. My â??whysâ?? are not being answered? I am still shocked and in a state of disbelief. Even though I never met him I have been told we look alike. The only difference, my spectacles.

Son of Auntie Bernice and Uncle Fifi Abaka Amuah of Worcester, MA. He was my first Cousin. In reality, a brother. We never met because my mother, my brothers and I relocated to Ghana when I was four. His death has been a big blow to me especially when I heard he was a basketball player. He would have been the future basketball star of Ghanaian descent.

As a basketball player myself, I think about him every time I am on the court. He will just pop up into my mind. I hear he grooved the court and did it in style and with dedication. In fact, he was â??swagâ??

For those who knew Jojo I am sure there are many special moments you had with him.

I keep on asking my mum â??why now, for Jojoâ?? but my mum who is very religious and a faithful Christian tells me to do my best and do what I can and leave the rest to God, for I know not when my time will come.

I was not eager to hear this wisdom, how can God call someone only 16, just too soon? I have learnt a lot. Indeed, life is not how you want it, but definitely what God wants for you.

God Perhaps did not want Gary to sin and seek for forgiveness again and again. He wanted him to come to Him with a pure heart, crystal as snow.

At 14, I am in the North Legon School complex basketball team and a junior golf player. Your memory will live with me forever. I will keep on â??dunkingâ?? in your honor.

As you take your final Journey on Saturday April 5th 2014, I will not hesitate to state that a gap has been left in the family, the entire Ghanaian Community in Worcester, Worcester Public School and your numerous friends and loved ones.

I have read many posts and comments on your face book wall and legacy.com.
They all confirm how great, humble and kindhearted you were. This confirms the saying â??God always takes the bestâ?? I know in future, at the heaven gate, all I need to tell God and the angels is that â??Gary is my cousinâ?? and the gates will be opened for me.

Tell my kid sister Nana Akua we miss her. You went too soon at 16, Gary

Atlanta Ebenezer Ghanaian Presby Acquires Building
[353967]
Ebenezer Ghanaian Presbyterian Church, Atlanta Georgia has acquired a new building in Austell, Georgia. The building is eight thousand square feet facility. It has a sanctuary/worship space that can sit about two hundred people. It also has classrooms, offices, a kitchen, a large fellowship hall, and parking space for about a hundred vehicles. Ebenezer Ghanaian Presbyterian Church paid for this facility in full at closing from its own resources without funding from any bank or entity.

This church started as Presbyterian Church of Ghana Fellowship in February 2006 in partnership with the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, a member church of the Cherokee Presbytery of PCUSA in Mableton, Georgia with Rev. Elizabeth G. Ansa Acquah as the first minister.

The congregation has been housed at the Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Mableton since its formation. The Woodlawn Church was dissolved in 2013 and its membership transferred to a new church called Light of Hope Presbyterian Church formed from the merger of three churches, including Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. Following the dissolution of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, ownership of all its properties and liabilities transferred to the new Light of Hope Presbyterian Church.

The Light of Hope congregation immediately listed the Woodlawn building and other facilities for sale. With the impending sale of the Woodlawn building occupied by Ebenezer Ghanaian Presbyterian congregation, the Ebenezer congregation began to search for a new home in the South Cobb area. In September 2013, a facility in Austell was identified. The initial asking price was too high for the congregation to afford. The owners lowered the asking price twice over the fall while in negotiations with the Ebenezer congregation. Ebenezer submitted its final proposal in early December of 2013 on the property and closed on it on January 31, 2014, paying cash and in full at closing.

The facility is a church built in 1960 by Church of Christ with solid concrete blocks faced with burnt bricks. It was sold to Girls, Inc., a social service afterschool program when Church of Christ outgrew the facility. A major renovation was carried out on this facility in 1994 by its owners and the entire roof replaced about six years ago. Ebenezer purchased the facility from Girls, Inc.

At its March sitting, the City of Austell Council members voted all in favor to rezone the property to be used as a church, paving the way for Ebenezer to begin renovation/restoration works including; painting, replacement of stolen outdoor condensers, cleaning, and moving of property from Woodlawn facility to the new facility. Ebenezer plans to hold its first worship service in this new facility on April 6, 2014.

In times of peace great things can be achieved. Rev. Dr. John Wells believes that the building is a gift from God and it amplifies the many blessings that the Lord showers on this congregation. Rev. Acheampong believes that faith is what is at work here. Rev. Osei-Tutu cannot express his joy and happiness in words. Odeneho Aye Yirenkyi I, a member of the church and Georgia Akuapemfohene says that â??this is a miracle.â?? Members of session are so grateful to the entire members of the congregation for their support and prayers.

The session and members of Ebenezer Ghanaian Presbyterian Church takes this opportunity to invite all to visit and worship with us in this new facility at 5171 North Avenue, Austell, GA 30106.

We welcome all to our membership â?? in Christ, there is no east-west, no black-white, no rich-poor, and all are equal.
Ebenezer â?? 1 Samuel 7: 12 - Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, â??Thus far the LORD has helped us.â??

My Name is paul.I will love to share my testimony to all the people in the forum cos i never thought i will have my girlfriend back and she means so much to me..The girl i want to get marry to left me 4 weeks to our wedding for another man..,When i called her she never picked my calls,She deleted me on her facebook and she changed her facebook status from engage to Singleâ?¦when i went to her place of work she told her boss she never want to see me..I lost my job as a result of this cos i cant get myself anymore,my life was upside down and everything did not go smooth with my lifeâ?¦I tried all i could do to have her back to all did not work out until i met a Man when i Travel to Africa to execute some business have been developing some years back..I told him my problem and all have passed through in getting her back and how i lost my jobâ?¦he told me he gonna help meâ?¦i donâ??t believe that in the first place.but he swore he will help me out and he told me the reason why my girlfriend left me and also told me some hidden secrets.i was amazed when i heard that from him..he said he will cast a spell for me and i will see the results in the next couple of days..then i travel back to Germany the following day and i called him when i got home and he said heâ??s busy casting those spells and he has bought all the materials needed for the spells,he said am gonna see positive results in the next 2 days that is Thursday. My girlfriend called me at exactly 12:35pm on Thursday and apologies for all she had done ..she said, she never knew what sheâ??s doing and her sudden behavior was not intentional and she promised not to do that again.it was like am dreaming when i heard that from her and when we ended the call,i called the man and told him my my girl friend called and he said i havenâ??t seen anything yetâ?¦ he said i will also get my job back in 3 days time..and when its Sunday, they called me at my place of work that i should resume work on Monday and they gonna compensate me for the time limit i have spent at home without working..My life is back into shape,i have my girlfriend back and we are happily married now with a baby boy and i have my job back too. This man is really powerful..if we have up to 20 people like him in the world, the world would have been a better place..he has also helped many of my friends to solve many problems and they are all happy now..Am posting this to the forum for anybody that is interested in meeting the man for help.you can mail him to priest_gbenga.magic_temple@priest.com, I cant give out his number cos he told me he donâ??t want to be disturbed by many people across the world..he said his email is okay and he also have a web site if you want to visit him thereâ?? he will replied to any emails asap..hope he helped u out too..good luck. his web site is http://www.priestgbengamagictemple.webs.com

TIME WITH PURPOSE
[353556]
RIGHT AFTER JESUS WAS BAPTIZED, SCRIPTURE SAID HE WAS LED INTO THE WILDERNESS TO BE TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL.THROUGH OUT THE TEMPTING PROCESS WE FIND JESUS QUOTING THE SCRIPTURES ALL THROUGH.WE HAVE NOT READ EARLIER THAT JESUS READ THE SCRIPTURES. IT IS OBVIOUS THEREFORE THAT THROUGH OUT HIS HIDDEN LIFE, THE GENTLEMAN SPENT HIS TIME COMMUNING WITH GOD THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES.A MAN IS NOT BROUGHT INTO DESTINY UNLESS HE IS READY AND WORTHY OF IT.WE OUGHT THEREFORE TO UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSING OF OUR LIFE AND LIVE FOR THEM. FOCUS, LEARN, BE WILLING TO ERR,RISE WHEN U FALL,TURN UR MISTAKES INTO OPPORTUNITIES OF LESSONS UNTO GROWTH AND MATURITY.THERE IS NO TRUE FAST AND SHORT SUCCESSFUL WAY IN LIFE. TRUE SUCCESS COMES WHEN WE DISCOVER OUR ROLE IN LIFE,KNOW OUR PURPOSE OF EXISTENCE AND SPEND TIME MATURING OUR WAY THROUGH THE CHALLENGES AND TROUBLES OF LIFE WHILST WE PATIENTLY WAIT FOR TIME TO USHER US INTO WHERE WE BELONG. EVERYTHING HAPPENS IN TIME! GOOD TIMES NEVER COMES TO THE UNPREPARED AND UNWORTHY.GOOD TIME COMES TO THOSE WHO ARE READY AND WORTHY OF THE TIME.LOOK FOR PURPOSE.SEEK FOR PURPOSE IF U HAVEN'T FOUND IT YET.PURPOSE KEEPS A MAN BUSY AND OCCUPIED.A MAN OF PURPOSE IS NEVER AN IDLE MAN.HE IS NEVER A LAZY MAN.REMEMBER, THERE IS FREE TIME FOR EVERYONE TO CONSIDER AND RECONSIDER,TO MAKE CHOICES AND TO MAKE DECISIONS.AS LONG AS A MAN HAS THIS FREE TIME,NOTHING IS LATE AND WASTE.RECONSIDER THE PATH OF UR LIFE.IS IT IN LINE WITH PURPOSE?IF NOT THEN PAUSE AND DISCOVER PURPOSE.THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO BE TRULY FRUITFUL. BEFORE JESUS WAS BORN,HIS NAME HAS ALREADY BEEN GIVEN.THE ANGEL SAID," HE SHALL CALLED JESUS BECAUSE HE WILL SAVE HIS PEOPLE". HIS NAME DEFINED HIS PURPOSE. WHICH NAME DO YOU ANSWER TO?

SPONSORSHIP FOR THE INAUGURATION OFTHE LIGHT FORUM
[347644]
SEEKING SPONSORSHIP FOR THE INAUGURATION OF â??THE LIGHT FORUMâ??

1 O Lord our Governor, how excellent is thy Name in all the world *
thou that has set thy glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of very babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies *
that thou mightest still the enemy, and the avenger.
3 For I will consider thy heavens, even the works of thy fingers *
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained.
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him *
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5 Thou has madest him but little lower than the angels *
and has crown him with glory and worship.
6 Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands *
and thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet;
7 All sheep and oxen *
yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea *
and whatsoever walketh through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord our Governor *
how excellent is thy Name in all the world!

Anglican Chant: Psalm 8

â??And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.â?? Matthew 24:14

â??But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.â?? Daniel 12:4

â??Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.â?? Revelation 1:3

Weâ??re a group of Bible students looking for a sponsorship to set up a religious forum [Religious Assembly] in Kumasi where the merit of religious doctrines and systems of beliefs will be re-examined and debated by various interested religious parties to verify the authenticity of them with the Bible as the standard of measurement, in a hope to establish the truth and the will of God. This forum is very essential especially for all those Christians who are diligently seeking to know the truth about the will of God for mankind.

STRUCTURE

The High Priest - The Presiding Judge
The Three Kings - The endorsers
The Seven Lords - The Decision Makers
The Twelve Princes - The Discussion Leaders
The Ten Scribes - Take records of Proceedings and Findings
The Porter - Maintain decorum and ensure Code of Conduct
The Floor Members - The debaters [120]

The three kings and the high priest shall serve as an observers and make occasional remarks and to seek clarification from the discussion leaders. Before any belief system could be accepted or rejected based on its merits with regard to the scriptures, thereâ??ll be a vote cast by the princes, lords and kings, which will receive a final endorsement by the High Priest to become authoritative. A simple majority for or against a belief system shall hold as the accepted declaration of faith.

Vacancy is open to anyone who wants to hold an official position as the:

The High Priest
One of the Kings
One of the Seven Lords
One of the Twelve Princes
One of the Ten Scribes
The Porter
A Floor Member

The twelve princes will be piloting every discussion and will be asking intense questions to receive various viewpoints of the floor members on what they believe to be the truth with regard to the subject under discussion.

Criteria for the selection of various positions will be strictly open to people with in-depth knowledge of the Bible and Religion as a whole.

The ideal High Priest must be someone who possesses a high sense of morality, with clean record and spiritually strong, who can philosophize and has a thorough knowledge in:

RELIGION
HISTORY [GENERAL & RELIGIOUS]
CHRISTIANITY [EARLY, MEDIEVAL AND MODERN]
PHILOSOPHY
ESCHATOLOGY
PROPHECY
APOCRYPHAL & PSEUDOPIGRAPHA [REJECTED ] BOOKS
GREEK & HEBREW LANGUAGES [LATIN: OPTIONAL BUT ADDED ADVANTAGE]
SPIRITUALISM
DARK AGES

The three kings, the seven lords and the twelve princes must possess the same qualities as the high priest and must have a thorough knowledge in all the above areas with exception of:

GREEK AND HEBREW LANGUAGES [OPTIONAL]

A belief system will have the final endorsement by the High Priest as accepted or rejected after a vote cast by the princes, lords and kings has resulted in a stalemate.

The High Priest will always endorse a belief system accepted and held by majority of members to be authoritative.

An interview will be conducted to savage various interested applications. Weâ??ll entreat all Christian denominations to take advantage of this opportunity to enlighten their members and the sinful world on the basis for which theyâ??ve held on to a certain belief system which has its root in the Bible.

Anyone interested in joining this noble course as a first ever open discussion of the foundation of Christianity rooted in diverse belief systems is warmly welcome.
