Prempeh College Old Boys Fired Up for Transformation of Alma Mater -1987/89 Group Renovate School Pantry and Kitchen


Prempeh College has earned the reputation as one of the premier high schools in Ghana. The school was named after one of the illustrious Kings of the Ashanti Kingdom, Nana Prempeh .

The students who have had the opportunity of attending this noble institution look back today to show their appreciation by mobilizing resources to identify various projects on campus that need upgrading to renovate in order to maintain the beauty of the campus, its pride and its structures in place.

One of such ventures is the gentrification of the school's kitchen and pantry which have never seen any improvement since the school was established in 1949.
The 1987/89 alumni who are spread all over the globe connected with each other through an online forum and mobilized funds to embark on this project. The project, which was spearheaded by some notable members of the 87/89 group namely, Messrs. Benson Oduro, Professor Britwum Nyarko, Kwabena Boadu Mensah and a few others came up with an estimate in financing this venture and used their expertise in the field to make this project a reality.
On Monday September 21st, the first phase of the project which included re-roofing of the kitchen, tiling of floors, construction of new sinks, changing of water closets, plastering and painting of the entire structure was commissioned on the campus. The Chairman of the Prempeh College old boys association Mr. K. F Asante who graced the occasion with his presence expressed his appreciation and commended the 87/89 year group for their sense of patriotism. In his speech senior Benson Oduro one of the initiators of the project expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all school mates who contributed to make the project a success. He was accompanied by Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, the MP for Atwima Nwabiagya who is an alumni, Hon. Kwaku Boamah, District Assembly contestant for Buokrom, Professor Britwum Nyarko of KNUST and Rev. Obeng Denteh a minister .
Baffuor Fosu Twetweakwa II, Otumfuo’s Anantahene, an Alumni was the special guest , He called on all Amanfuo worldwide to look back and make a meaningful impact on the school by supporting such laudable projects.

Speaking to the Afrikan Post from the campus Professor Britwum said
“I shouldn’t have to be convinced to contribute to the future of my alma mater. I should know that giving back to my high school is not only important for the institution, but for myself as well.”
Mr. Benson Oduro on his part added that, “Your contributions could be used to help fund and improve innovative programs that expand the quality of education your alma mater offers to the students. When you give back you normally yearn to be more connected to your alma mater not only to ensure your money is being used efficiently, but to touch base with old school friends once again. You’re more likely to attend alumni events and enjoy a nice trip down memory lane as well. ”
