Now if I was poor and could not afford advocacy, I know which Country I would prefer to face justice. I'm absolutely certain that it is the poor that bear the brunt of barbaric sentences in Ghana.

Yes, Kweku Adoboli is indeed of Ewe origins but I must confess that I don't know the meaning of the word even though I am Ewe. And I knew about the name since childhood but didn't know anyone carrying the name! At least not in Anloland. Since Kweku's debacle, it has come out from some people that the origin is from the Tongu area, so that explains some things to me.
In Anlo, when the elders wanted to signify danger on the way when we were growing up in the '60s, they'd say "Adoboli le mordzi", meaning, Adoboli is on the way, a phrase carried over from the days of slave trading. His grand sire must have been a particularly notorious kidnapper/raider in those days. There is another family similarly used. when Henorga Akpalu composed a song in which he said he had become G.... and people ran away from him, he was summoned before Torgbui Sri II by the grandchildren on charges of exposing them to ridicule. That was during the colonial era.
Anyway, it'd make an interesting story writing the story of Kweku, from his grandsire's slave raiding days during the mercantile trade period, filling the slave boats, to Kweku's raiding of the financial markets! Karma? Nemesis?

Stock Trading is a risky business that could go either way of which Mr. Adoboli's is no exception. He lost in the big way of which his bosses were not anticipating. That did not make the Trader a thief. There had been so many instances in the US where Stock Trading got awry and if that happened it was the managers or the supervisors who were either asked to resign or in extreme cases prosecuted but not the subordinates. Because at the closed of each day's business it is the duty of a supervisor to have a conference with those under him/her to discuss what went right or wrong. So in Mr.Adoboli's case if his boss neglected his duties and allowed his/her juniors free hand to trade any how they wanted then it is the boss who should take the blame when things go bad not those who work under him. My question is according to the release from the bank it says "in the wake of the loss, at least 11 coworkers and even the Chief Executive Office and some managers were either fired or were asked to resigned but not Mr. Adoboli. Why? This is where my cry of Racism comes out loud.
