P.V Obeng's family in the US hold one week celebration

On Saturday, exactly one week after the death of the late P.V Obeng, Some of the family members, friends and sympathizers of the Ghanaian Statesman gathered at the residence of his cousin in Alexandria, Virginia to celebrate one week of his passing to Glory. Family members travelled from all over the United States to meet and pay tribute to their cousin, uncle, father and brother.

Mr. Joe Agyei -Mensah, his nephew told the Afrikan Post “ He called me a few weeks ago to check on me .Little did I know that it was his farewell message to me.” Frank Agyei-Mensah , another nephew on the other hand said “ He was such an inspiration to the family. The last time he visited me in Cincinnati, Ohio we had such a great time. He will forever be remembered”.

Children of P.V Obeng’s uncle , the late C.K Toku , who hosted the event could not hold back their tears as they could not come to terms with the sudden death of their cousin.

The late Paul Victor Obeng, is from the Bretuo clan of Adansi Akrokerri in the Ashanti region of Ghana . His late uncles the late R.O Amoako Atta and C.K Toku served as regional Commissioner for Ashanti Region and district commissioner for Juaso respectively in the Nkrumah regime. He followed his uncles trail in politics by becoming a member of the ruling Government from 1982 to 1996. Until his death he was the chairman of the National Development Planning Commission.

The Senior Presidential Adviser died Saturday at a hospital after he reportedly collapsed behind the steering wheel by the Agape Filling Station at Spintex Road in Accra, Ghana.

It is not clear the cause of death, even though sources suspect he died of asthma attack. He was rushed to the Lekma Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
