Fellow Katangese owe me some food and Barbercue. They campaigned against me during the NUGS Presidential elections in 1976 when I was contesting with Akrofi, who then eventually became NUGS President. They almost destroyed and messed up Great Hall when with the slogan "Fellow Katangese Charge" during my movie show of the "GREEK TYCOON" and almost stole the movie reels.
Katangese! but you can never beat me from Republic Hall. You should rather honor me as an FOK. I am flying from the midwest for the Barbecue!!!

During the 60s Moise Tsombe and fellow leaders in Katanga, then Congo were the cause of all the troubles in that country which never ended well till today. Does this Katanga Alumni Association know about the history of Katanga yet they want to be associated with such notorious name of Katanga? In Africa parents think twice before giving names to their children because they want the child to emulate the character of the one whose name was given. Therefore K.A.A. a university institution in Ghana taking the name of Katanga to itself is a sorrowful thing to think of. Until I know their reason of assuming this Katanga name, I will pray to the good Lord to have mercy on this association. According to the statements by the secretary, KATANGA alumni in North America(US/CANADA)have over the years encountered numerous challenges to expand their help to their Hall. My advice is change the acronym KATANGA and everything would go on well for the alumni.

but because University Hall has become a clichee, they adopted Katanga.
Do you know that a Sub-Hall of the University Hall (ie Katanga) is called SHABA, also a province of Congo?

A brief history of the University Hall
The university hall, Katanga was opened on the 19th of January, 1963 to commemorate the accession of the then Kumasi college of technology to full university status. On that day, the first batch of fellows began their journey in knust in the first all-male hall in knust. The hall was opened at the height of the Congolese crisis when Katanga province in Congo wanted to secede from the newly independent state. The pioneer students took inspiration not from the rebellious spirit of the citizens of Katanga province but rather from the rich mineral resources of the Katanga province in naming the university hall, KATANGA. like the Katanga province which was and is still responsible for over 50% of the income of the Congo, the university hall is responsible for the excellence of knust. Katanga is home to the best brains on campus and it is therefore not surprising that she accounts for most of the 1st class students produced by the university.
Achievements.
Certainly katanga’s greatest achievement lies in the caliber of men she has produced for the country. Time and space will not permit me to talk about katanga’s products who occupy vital positions in the country and contribute in no small way to the development of the country.
Narrowing it down to knust, katanga’s impact is visible everywhere. The students’ clinic, speed ramps on campus, taxi operations on campus, etc are all the results of Katanga’s advocacy. Katanga has on countless occasions ensured that students’ rights are not trampled upon through advocacy, dialogue and sometimes protests.
Rest Not!!!!!

Jacob Osei Yeboah, the only Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2012 election is a Katangee. Popularly known Osofo turns politician. It is only a Katangee who can do this and a great resource.
