NDC UK & Ireland Chapter pours scorn on ....

....calls to probe Election Petition Judgment

The NDC UK and Ireland Chapter have noticed with some keen interest those in the NPP hierarchy who have turned themselves into protagonists in the alleged Victoria Hammah leaked tapes and advocating for investigation into the so called leaked tapes circulating in the social media. We view the attempt by the NPP to use this unfortunate situation to play a political ball game as hypocritical; this clearly makes them the scorn of the entire Ghanaian community.

We are also following developments in this matter with keen interests and are not bemused by the NPP General Secretary, Mr Owusu Afriyie's petition to the Chief Justice and the call by the NPP surrogates in the Diaspora to institute a Commission of enquiry to probe some of the allegations revealed in the tapes. And more recently the petition to parliament on the same subject matter. The NDC UK & Ireland Chapter welcome these calls but would like to stress that such investigations should not only be limited to the alleged Victoria Hammah leaked tapes but we also call on the Chief Justice and any Commission established to institute investigations into the confirmed recorded tapes where Mr Sammy Awuku, the NPP Communication Director, during a visit to the UK, was clearly heard on a tape attacking the integrity of the Justices of the Supreme court of Ghana. Ghanaians deserve better and we in the NDC UK & Ireland Chapter would like to call on those protagonists in the NPP advocating for such probes to come with clean hands. "Those who call for equity must come with clean hands".

The NPP are noted for attacking the integrity of the Judiciary and public Institutions under strange circumstances. We note that Sammy Awuku's comments in the UK attacking the presiding judge of the Supreme Court and attempts to manipulate the Judiciary and the unguarded statements by Mr Owusu Afriyie ridiculing the presiding judge of the Supreme Court during the Petition hearing put the integrity and independence of the country's judiciary into jeopardy. In our opinion these calls are unnecessary, these are vile attempts by Mr Owusu Afriyie to use this unfortunate situation as a diversion to cling on to his wavering political position at the forth coming NPP National Delegates Congress. Although we acknowledged that times are hard, the situation is global and Ghanaians in the Diaspora are not immune from the economic hardship their country folks are experiencing in Ghana. We in the NDC UK Chapter believe and support the policies of His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama administration. We affirm our unflinching support to His Excellency's administration efforts in making life meaningful to Ghanaians under the Better Ghana Agenda programme. So far we have seen positive developments in the energy sector the main driver of the political economy despite the various challenges confronting our country as a nation.

The NDC government has shown in the past and present that it is capable of managing the affairs of our country and has continuously shown interest in improving the lives of Ghanaians no matter where they live in the country. We call on Ghanaians to have patience; the government of His Excellency, President Mahama will deliver on its manifesto pledges. Long Live Ghana; Long Live NDC!!!!!!
