Methodist Church Ghana North American Mission holds Annual General Meeting

The North American Mission of the Methodist Church Ghana, holds her 2013 Annual General Meeting (AGM) this weekend from Friday, April 26- Sunday April 28 at the Ghana Emmanuel Methodist Church, Newark, New Jersey, under the theme: “YOU ARE MY WITNESSES” [ISAIAH 43:10a; ACTS 1:8]

The AGM will be led by The Supervising Mission Coordinator, The Rt. Rev. Bishop Benjamin K. Asare, with the assistance of the Missions Lay Council Chairman, Brother Baffour Amoateng, the Mission Secretary, Very Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Asare-Kusi, and Mission Assistant Secretary, Very Rev. Dr. Casely B. Essamuah, and the Mission Treasurer, Brother Victor Joel Yamson. The delegates from several societies and circuits in both the US and Canada are about 100 and the total number of observers over the three day-period is expected to be over 700.

The following are some of the highlights of the AGM: Ministerial Session chaired by Bishop Asare, Lay Session Chaired by Brother Baffour Amoateng, Discussion of Reports from Societies, Circuits, and Church Organizations, also known as ‘State of the Work of God,’ and a workshop led by Very Rev Professor Joseph Osei; Discussion of Presiding Bishop’s letter by Rev Dr. Casely Essamuah.

One of the most interesting aspects of the AGM has always been The Wesley Night, when Methodist Choirs from the area and afar come to join the delegates and observers in celebrating God and His Kingdom. All the weekend events reach their peak on Sunday when the Bishop climbs the pulpit to deliver The Charge Sermon followed by the administration of The Holy Communion, and the singing of the famous Hallelujah Chorus as part of the closing ceremony.

The host Society Steward and the newly elected Circuit Steward of New Jersey Mission Circuit Brother Kwadwo Agyeman mentioned that his Society has prepared for months praying and planning to host this occasion and with God’s help will do so auspiciously.

The AGM invites all who are able to come and join us as delegates or observers. Those who are unable to join us for any reason are humbly asked to pray with us for a successful AGM that will bring glory to God and abundant blessings to all our Ghana Methodist members in the Diaspora and non-members within our mission-field.

The location of the AGM is: GHANA EMMANUEL METHODIST CHURCH,
1177 BROAD STREET, NEWARK, NEW JERSEY 07114
