There was some pomp and ceremony attendant to the recent Commissioning of the Ghana Consulate in Swaziland. The event resulted in well known chartered Accountant Mr Korblah Quashie becoming the consular general in Swaziland and it was historic in that he is the first consular general Ghana has had in the Kingdom of Swaziland, among several west African nations.
Ghana's Acting High Commissioner in Pretoria South Africa, Mrs Martha Pobee Traveled to Swaziland to unveiled and officiated, along with consular-general of Pretoria Lawrence Azumah at the commissioning.
Korblah Quarshie is an experienced chartered Accountant,who once lectured at the university of Swaziland., with over 20 years assisting Ghanaians on consular services when Ghana embassy in Zimbabwe was responsible for consular services in Swaziland. He was born in Ghana. Quarshie has headed many positions in Swaziland among them is the chairman of the rotary club of the royal kingdom of Swaziland.He is a fellow of the international chartered Accountant ( UK) . As aÂleader of korblah Quarshie Associate in Swaziland, he was the sole front man in Auditing
On the educational and sporting area front, he has embarked on several initiatives that has promoted sporting activities in the country . The new Consular in his interaction with newsmen thanked the government of Ghana on the new role bestowed on him , and promised to keep Ghana,s status as the shinning star of Africa.
Quarshie in his address to fellow Ghanaians added that a very active India citizens group in Swaziland has strong ties with themselves -, and this has made it possible for them to acquire loans thereby improving their status in businesses.. He further used the occassion to advice Ghanaians in the kingdom to learn lessions from Indians in Swaziland who have been instrumental in ensuring the improvement of lives for themselves urging, Ghanaians to do same
Earlier,the acting high commissioner said that diplomatic procedures had already taken place between Ghana and royal Kingdom of Swaziland that make it official for the new consular to begin work. The new consular -general will be responsible for Visa and passport processing in the kingdom on behalf of Ghana and will operate from his office in Maliya house in Manzini.
