Toronto Ghana Disaster Relief Concert Bags Over $15,000

Floods Floods

On the heels of the tragic June 3rd flood and inferno that killed scores of our people and destroyed a lot of properties in Accra-Ghana, our Clergy and community leaders in Toronto led a prayer vigil and fund raising event at Apostles Continuation Church on June 12th for the victims in our homeland Ghana.

A benefit concert was held at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday July 12th and so far we have raised an amount of $18, 489.00
Though the concert was attended by a handful of Ghanaians living in Toronto, donations and offerings collected that evening amounted to a little over $15,000! Praise the Lord!
The concert was under the joint-chair ship of Mr Sam Kabu Asante, a Toronto-based businessman and Nana Dr. La Kumi Sasraku, a Medical Practitioner. Kwaku Gyasi and the Gye Nyame band were at their best during the concert! Other singers included the Pentecost Church Choir, Youth Choir from the Light House Assemblies of God church, Bella and Flexy among others. Elder Michael Appiah Kubi, the dynamic presenter of Sankofa Radio based in Toronto was the MC.
The Clergy prayed for the victims and their survivors, the Ghanaian community in Toronto and our nation-Ghana.

James Quainoo would like to thank the churches, community organizations, individuals, businesses, Our Chiefs, Ghanaian News,Snakofa Radio and civic leaders for their generous contributions.
