Asare was therefore convicted by the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava on his own plea of guilty.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adiza Suleman told the court that the victim reside with her mother and step father at Nmai Dzorn a suburb in Accra.

ASP Suleman said five months ago, the victim had some issues with her step father, which was not resolved and as such had to seek shelter with a friend in the area.

According to prosecution, the victim’s friend, who also knew the accused person, got to know the victim’s plight and he decided to give the victim accommodation.

The prosecutor said Asare took the victim home under the pretext of providing her with some financial support.

On July 24, this year, the victim informed Asare of her intent to go back home.

The following day, prosecution said Asare tied the victim’s leg and hands with an electric cable to his bed and had sex with the victim.

In the process, prosecution said the victim bled immensely. A report was made to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, Madina, and a medical form was issued to the victim for her to visit the hospital.

In the company of the case investigator, prosecution said the victim was examined and was going through treatment.

On August 4, this year, Asare was spotted at Nmai Dzorn school junction where he tried to convince the victim to return to the house but was rounded up by the Police.
