Five remanded for murder

A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded six people into prison custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of Samuel Akwasi Frimpong and stealing of Ghc60, 500.00 from him at Atwima-Techiman, near Kumasi.

They were Kofi Gyima, driver, Kwasi Agyei, businessman, Kwadwo Owusu, driver, Abdulai Yusif, newspaper vendor and Kwasi Sebe, a trader.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and conspiracy to steal.

Three of their accomplices are on the run.

Police Chief Inspector D’almeida Sylvanus prosecuting told the court presided over by Mrs Adu Amankwaah that the suspects and Mr Henry Akwasi Frimpong, the complainant reside at Atwima Techiman.

On March 24, at about 0200 hours, the deceased, Samuel Akwasi Frimpong, who was the son of the complainant, was returning from Akrofrom where he works to his residence at Atwima-Techiman.

When he reached the entrance of his residence, he tooted the car horn for his father to open the gate only to be surrounded by the suspects who shot him with AK 47 gun.

Chief Inspector Sylvanus said Frimpong died on the spot, and the suspects entered the house and made away with the money.

A report was made to the police, and they were arrested at their hideouts.

After investigations, they were arraigned.
