Police has no excuse in preventing robbery - Kofi Boakye

DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has challenged the Municipal and District Commanders in the region to make sure they do whatever it takes in ensuring that robbery case are reduced to the barest minimum, even as the criminals change their way of operations.

He cautioned the commanders that he would not entertain excuses of lack of resources or personnel in their areas of jurisdiction for failure to achieve targets, since the police service is making strides to accomplish objectives. He said until the police are able to arrest those suspects at large, our efforts to eliminate robbery would be uncompleted.

Addressing all the Municipal and District Commanders on armed robbery in the region, he said he always felt scandalised when news of robbers attacking innocent citizens come up, and challenged the top officials in the service to do whatever it takes to bring robbery down. He also pleaded with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District chief executives (MMDCEs), as chairmen of various security committees, to also support the police.

DCOP Boakye stated that the police would not relent in its efforts in fighting armed robbery in the region, and gave the assurance that he would also liaise with his colleagues in the adjoining regions and districts to clamp down on armed robbery on the highways.

According to him, Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, Techiman to Nkenkensu, Mampong-Afrantie, and Sekyeredumasi, Sunyani, Kunsu and Mankranso roads and the Bere Forest are now target areas of the armed robbers.
