Our lawmakers need to amend certain provisions of the constitution with regards to their wording. "Defilement of a child under sixteen years" does not even sound right. It is pretty much saying that defiling a girl over 16 years is acceptable. Think about it for a second. First, Defilement means "to make filthy" (which is still a crime under the law). We can not use the term rape in this case because it sure does appear consensual, and we can not label it incest because the accused is not the girl's biological father. However, having sexual relations with a minor over whom you have fatherly responsibilities can carry the effects (psychological and criminal) of Incestual rape. The judges could charge him with Statutory rape and Incestual rape (for psychological effects). This is why; the girl is under the age of consent or the legal age, which means the law can assume she could not consent to sex with her step-father (statutory rape), and he could be charged with causing psychological trauma to an underage kid as well. Note that I am not advocating for double jeopardy here. There are two totally different charges in this case, and that is, if the plaintiff's lawyer will look into the case with a microscope.
