Former Assemblyman at Ajumako arrested for threatening

Ajumako (C/R), May 31 GNA 97 The Ajumako police have arrested a former Assembly Member for Ahenbrom Electoral Area of Ajumako, Mr Charles Essel, for threatening to kill two Environmental Health Officers performing their official duties at Ajumako. The arrest followed a report made by Mr Charles Amoaku, Principal Environmental Health Officer and Mr Prince Bampoh Superintendent of Environmental Health of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District. Inspector K. Appiah of the Ajumako Police Station told the Ghana News Agency at Ajumako that the two officers were on their normal duties on May 27 when the saw that the suspect had killed a pig without their certification.

Inspector Appiah said the two officers questioned Essel who told them that the animal was killed under the certification of Health officers at Breman Asikuma. He said when the officers challenged him to produce receipt given to him by officials at Asikuma he become offended and threatened to beat them if they did not leave. Inspector Appiah said Essel later chased them to the chief's palace where they had sought refuge. 31 May 11
