The 38-year-old woman Vida Golomesio, who was arrested with a baby boy at Karaga in the Northern Region, has confessed that her husband exposed her by reporting her to the Chief of Karaga.

Mrs Golomesio said her husband told the chief that she came back home with a baby, which was very suspicious because she never got pregnant.

In her caution statement, she admitted she actually stole the baby but indicated that she was forced to do so because of the maltreatment she suffered at the hands of family, friends and neighbours of the community due to her situation.

According to the nursing mother, Limah Addo, who was very traumatized, she is feeling better because her son had been found.

She thanked the media and the people of Karaga, especially the chief for their support in finding the infant.

“We went back to the hospital for checkup and God willing doctors have confirmed my son is doing fine,” she said.

The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) Regional Coordinator, Emmanuel Horatu told DAILY GUIDE that she was sent to the police clinic for checkup because she was not feeling well but has since been discharged.

He indicated that “the case is a bialable offence but no one has come forward to seek bail for her.”

Meanwhile, the police said they would continue their investigations on the matter although she had been charged with child theft and arraigned before court on Monday.
