A 10-year-old girl has been left bedridden after being defiled twice by her schoolmate’s father at Anyaa, a suburb of Accra.

The class one pupil of Anyaa D/A Government School was defiled by the man in a bush on 14th and 17th July, 2015 respectively on her way to school.

The man known to the victim as “Jessica Papa” (Jessica’s Father) is said to be an auto mechanic who lives in the area.

The girl who is currently on admission at the Child Health Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is partially paralyzed. She now has to been carried at the back of her mother to the hospital.

Recounting how it all happened, the girl in an interview with Atinka FM’ Regina Asamoah, explained that the man started assaulting her when she was at KG 2 but threatened to kill her or hire people to kidnap and kill her if she ever told her parents.

“When I was in KG ‘2’ he would meet me on my to school and in most cases take me to a drinking bar, where he would insert his finger into my vagina many times before escorting me to school. This fingering continued till I got to class one,” the victim said.

“On that fateful Tuesday, 14th July, 2015, he met me on the way and as usual walked with me. On the way, he dragged me to a nearby bush and told me there were some men in the bush and that if I screamed, they would kill me. He then inserted his penis into my vagina. It was so painful but I could not scream because of the death threat,” the little girl recounted.

“The same thing happened on Friday, 17th July, 2015. I had severe waist pain when I got to school and even told some of my class mates about the ordeal”.

“When I came home, I couldn’t walk well so when my aunty (Peace Augustt) enquired , I told her that a friend pushed me when we were playing at school”.

“However, on Saturday morning, I fell when I was going to brush my teeth so I was compelled to say what had happened to me. I confided in our land lady and told her what actually happened and she informed my aunty. Since then. I ‘ve been unable to walk,” the little girl further recounted.

A visit to the hospital by Regina Asamoah confirmed that the girl is on admission at Korle Bu upon referral from Akawe Medical facility at Anyaa, a suburb of Accra.

The Principal Nursing Officer at the Child Protection Unit of the Child Health Department at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Mrs. Harriet Klufio is appealing for financial support to help the unit take care of the girl as the child comes from a poor family.
