Ghana Cricket Association holds seminar/ AGM

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) has held a seminar and its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra as it continues with measures to establish a firm base for the sport in Ghana.
The joint events came off successfully at the Conference Room of the Nougochi Memorial Institute, University of Ghana, Legon in Accra with about 40 participants attending.
Prior to the AGM, an introductory to cricket seminar was organized for regional physical education tutors and the media to whip up interest in the sport and enhance cricket reportage in the country.
The seminar was a very engaging one with those present having a feel of what the sport is about and what goes into establishing a very strong identity for this discipline considered as the most gentleman of sport.
The AGM was the fourth in the series that the GCA has held and, it falls in fulfilment of the constitution of the Association and of the demands of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa regional office.
Participants for both events were drawn from clubs, schools, communities and retired cricketers among others.
They took the opportunity to access the activities of the body during the past year and discussed the prospects for 2015.
President of the GCA, Prof. William Ampofo said more would be done hence to establish a strong base for the sport with attention to be placed at grassroots development.
Cricket he added must be seen to be played in every region in Ghana as that is the surest way to ensure the development of the sport and the honing of talents.
