The Achimota Oval was full of fireworks last Sunday when arch rivals, Devino Allrounders, engaged BGC 1 in a fierce cricket competition with Accra Titans also locking horns with BGC 2 in another encounter.
While Devino Allrounders pitched strength against BGC 1 on the main Oval, Accra Titans and BGC 2 engaged each other on the new oval.7
The competition, sponsored by the Indian High Commission as part of the Indian Republic Day celebration, which fell on January 26, 2014, saw BGC 1 defeating Allrounders in the first match by 10 wickets when they made 69 runs all out.
Determined to prove their worth, BGC 1 made quick 75 runs in 10.3 overs for no loss of wickets with Samson Awia hitting 52 runs.
The other match, which was full of fireworks also saw Accra Titans beating BGC 2 by 81 runs when Simon Ateak and Vincent Ateak made 58 runs not out, and 49 runs respectively.
In all, eight teams will be competing for honours over the four-week tournament to determine the best among them.
The competition will resume next Sunday when Veterans, regarded as one of the best teams, vie for honours with Bel-Aqua on the main oval, while Force XI engage Supermax XI on the new oval.
