Greater Rural Opportunities for Women
(GROW) - Ghana
Join us and meet two inspiring women: Sarah French and Mary Fehr.
They returned from MEDA internships wanting to get more involved in MEDA's mission, creating business solutions to poverty.
This summer, they are biking across Canada, raising $150,000 to empower women entrepreneurs in Ghana through MEDA's GROW (Greater Rural Opportunities for Women) project.
Bike to GROW started May 18, 2015 in Victoria, BC and they will be in Montreal on Saturday August 8.
Goal: Families in northern Ghana have nutritious food throughout the year as women increase agricultural production, strengthen their links to markets, diversify the food they produce and understand more about nutrition.
Reaching: 20,000 women farmers and their families
Funding: Canadian International Development Agency (now DFATD) and MEDA
Project length: 2012-2018
