CLOGSAG inaugurates own fund

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has launched its own fund, CLOGSAG Fund, to, among others, supplement monthly salaries of members. The new fund also has retirement packages for members. Inaugurating the Fund on Thursday, March 26, President of CLOGSAG Alhaji Muhamadu Azongo admitted that the fund was met with initial setbacks. “Indeed, the implementation of the CLOGSAG Fund has not been without initial challenges stemming primarily from lack of consultation or sensitization among the rank and file even though the fund was launched a whole year prior to its operation,” he said. Robertson Allotey, a Commissioner of the Public Services Commission, underscored the benefits of the fund. “This Fund is for our welfare.” A board of trustees was sworn into office to oversee management of the fund. The fund is expected to offer solace to members as issues of the second-tier pensions - expected to be managed by a third party under the new pensions regulations - are currently before the law courts.
