Show to boost Ghana’s horticultural potential

Stratcomm Africa says the Second annual Ghana Garden and Flower Show, which opened on Friday in Accra would showcase the immense potential of Ghana’s gardens and flowers for job creation and income generation.

The 11-day Show is being held at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park on the theme: “Gardening for Value: Health, Beauty, Jobs and Income.”

A statement issued by Rosa A. Annang of Stratcomm Africa and copied to Ghana News Agency said the show brings together florists, horticulturalists, policy makers, home owners, garden lovers and real estate developers among others.

It said activities lined up for the event include an exhibition, a conference, workshops on gardening, fashion show, picnics and other exciting activities.

It observed that Ghana’s first horticultural industry magazine called “Bloom”, which is dedicated to exploring opportunities within the industry, would be launched at the show.

The Chief Executive of Stratcomm Africa Ms Esther Cobbah, expressed excitement about the positive response Stratcomm Africa has received from exhibitors and the public and said all is set for the opening of the exhibition.

She encouraged flower enthusiasts, and the public to patronise the exhibition to take advantage of the business opportunities that abound in garden and flowers.

Mr Steven Abban, Group Head, Personal Banking of Access Bank, the lead Sponsor for Garden and Flower Show 2013 and 2014 lauded the theme for the year and said it aligns well with Access Bank’s sustainable banking philosophy as well as its desire to contribute to solve growing global concerns about the environment.

Other sponsors of this year’s event include The Royal Netherlands Embassy, Royco, Cocoa Processing Company, Export Development and Investment Fund, Topp Core Security, Alisa Hotel, Lema Press, Chemico, Hot Trail Services, Steven Adusei Photography and G-Pak Ltd.

The Ghana Garden and Flower Show is aimed at promoting tourism, healthier and modern lifestyles and seeks to create employment and income earning opportunities to support Ghana’s growth and development.

The maiden edition of the Show was held in August last year.
