Workers urged to address second tier concerns with NPRA

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has stated thatall complaints regarding the second tier benefit payment should in the interim be addressed to the Authority for a redress.

A statement signed by Mrs Rita Afua Adzovie, Director of Corporate Affairs at NPRA and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, denied media reports that the Authority had asked workers to direct their concerns on payment of the second tier benefit to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

“We wish to state categorically that the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the NPRA, Mr Laud A.K. Senanu, did not advise pensioners to contact SSNIT to claim second tier benefit, but rather advised workers, especially those nearing retirement to update their records with SSNIT for prompt payment of their retirement benefits,” it said.

The statement reminded workers to either register or join a scheme by contacting any of the Licensed Corporate Trustee published on the NPRA website such as www.npra.gov.gh to facilitate the smooth transfer of accrued funds from the temporary Pension Fund Account lodged at the Bank of Ghana to custodian bank of registered schemes.
