GACL fells trees to improve safety at KIA

The Ghana Airports Company Limited on January 2 began felling some trees at the Kotoka International Airport in order to increase safety around the facility.

The affected trees are those in the median of the road leading to the airport (inner stretch from the traffic light up to the second roundabout).

Management of the Airport said apart from the fact that the felling of the trees, would give the landside a facelift, it had become necessary because the trees had outgrown street lights, making visibility at night very poor.

It would also make the area better illuminated and thus preventing people from lurking around.

The GACL assured the public of its commitment to ensure that the airport and its environs are safe and secured at all times.
