Shortage of cements Hit Upper East Region

Bolgatanga, March 15, GNA- The price of cement has hiked up from 80,000 cedis to 105,000 cedis a bag in the Upper East Region hampering projects under construction in the Region.

Most of the contractors the Ghana News Agency (GNA) spoke to in Bolgatanga expressed worry about the situation and said it was affecting the execution of their work.

When the GNA visited most of the cement retail shops in the region most of them were empty while and others were closed. Some of the retailers blamed the shortage of the commodity to the cut down in the supply of the product by Ghacem to the region. Other individuals noted that the building projects they were undertaking had come to a standstill.
