Cashew association gets board

Sampa (B/A) March 21, GNA - The new management board of Brong-Ahafo cashew farmers association has appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations and other corporate bodies to adequately support cashew production.

The management challenged farmers in the region to engage in cashew production since the crop thrived well in the savanna zone. The board made the appeal at its launch at Sampa in Jaman North district of the region and is tasked to ensure increased cashew production in the region.

Mr. Samuel Kwame Sie, Chairman of the association, gave assurance that members would work diligently towards the formation of branches of the association in other regions to promote the growth of the cashew industry.

Pastor P.H.R. Baiden, a member of the board and Chairman of the Jaman South branch of the association called on members of the association to work harder to expand their farms. He called for a stable price for the crop so as to encourage more farmers to go into its production.

Mr. Oti Boateng, Jaman South district cooperative officer, charged the board to ensure the sustainability of the industry.
