Foh-Amoaning backs Ashie to beat Tagoe

Former Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) boss Moses Foh-Amoaning predicts
that George Ashie will be too strong for Emmanuel Tagoe when the duo finally
slug it out in their much-trumpeted ‘Clash of Kings’ boxing match on Saturday.
The countdown to national football team captain Asamoah
Gyan’s BabyJet Promotions’ maiden boxing event is now down to 5 days as November
10 edges ever closer. The UAE based star footballer has pledged to be present
himself to supervise his history making promotion which is expected to be
spiced up by the presence and performances of some of his footballer and
musician friends.
Former IBF Intercontinental and WBO Africa champion at Junior
Lightweight, Tagoe (18-1, 8 KOs) and Ashie (23-3-1, 16 KOs) who still holds the
Commonwealth Junior Lightweight belt he won back in April, meet at the Accra
Sports Stadium Saturday night for the WBA International Lightweight title
headlining BabyJet Promotions’ 5-bout bill.
Tagoe, known to his fans as Game Boy has vowed to teach
Ashie, nicknamed Red Tiger, boxing lessons he would forever remember but
Foh-Amoaning who supervised the foundation stages of the careers of both boxers,
believes Ashie has an edge and foresees him winning a close fight.
“I think Ashie will edge this fight. George has heavy
punches and is a powerful boxer, he should be way above the Commonwealth
champion he is now. He should be an Intercontinental champion getting close to a
world title shot. I think he’s going to win, he will be too strong for Tagoe,”
Foh-Amoaning told Prince Peace Essuman on Uniq FM.
Amoaning is credited with nurturing the two boxers who
sprung out of the Mortein Boxing League and Men Only Boxing Championship which
were initiated under his tenure as GBA capo.
The Accra based legal practitioner and sports enthusiast is
keen not to miss what he envisages could be a great night for Ghanaian boxing.
“Ashie has been in the sport for a long time, not less than
seven years and with his experience it will be difficult for Tagoe to beat him.
But I think it’s going to be a great and enjoyable fight because you can’t
underrate Tagoe and his style. Tagoe is very crafty. Even though I haven’t been
at ringside for some time now, I will probably be there to witness this great
fight,” Mr. Foh-Amoaning added.
