Ayitey Powers test for Sena Agbeko on September 29

Highly rated Sena Agbeko faces another test in his burgeoning boxing career when he faces vastly experienced Ayitey Powers on September 29 at the Lebanon House in the heart of Accra.

Unbeaten Agbeko (11-0, 11 KOs) fights Powers who has an incredible record of 18 wins, 18 losses and a draw in 37 professional fights but nevertheless should be the toughest match up for 22 year old Agbeko thus far in his career.

In a career which began way back on September 30, 2000, Powers has beaten Joshua ‘Bukom Tsatsu’ Okine and also faced former world champion Joshua Clottey, current WBO Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly, recent IBF title challenger Osumanu Adama and even recently fancied a fight against WBO Africa Light Heavyweight champion Bukom Banku. But young Agbeko who is keen to maintain his 100% fight and knock records won’t budge.

“Certainly there is no doubt that it’s my toughest fight but Ayitey can’t be a problem for me. I am not going to slug it out with him in the beginning because I know he’s experienced and good. I will just go it slow with him for some two rounds then take over in the 3rd round and I think I should finish him by the 6th round,” Agbeko told www.sportsinghana.com

It is one of the headliners of an 8-bout bill put up by the SOAQ Empire Gloves Promotions and Classic Sportsdubbed ‘Night of World Beaters’ alongside co-main fight Ishmael Tetteh versus Issah Samir for the Ghana Super Welterweight title.

The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Lightweight belt will also be at stake on the night when Osumanu Akaba and Prince Ofotsu take to the ring to do battle for the title that could push up the winner’s world title credentials.

Joshua Barnor will battle Asamoah Wilson for the World Boxing Federation (Africa) Super Batamweight title at the Lebanon House located in Tudu, Central Accra with gate fees at a flat rate of GH¢5 (Five Ghana Cedis).

Other bouts include Frank Dogbe against Dodge Kermans in an 8-round Welterweight contest, Issac Ekpo versus Boniface Kabore in a Super Middleweight clash, Ghana Super Middleweight championship on offer for George Banson and Habib Mohammed as well as Alfred Tetteh versus Andey Kumah at Super Batamweight.
