Boxing News of Saturday, 23 June 2012
The attention of the GHANA BOXING AUTHORITY has been drawn to a publication in the Daily Graphic of Friday, 22nd June 2012 linking it to a meeting organized by a body not registered with the GBA and unknown calling itself Committee of Professional Boxing Stakeholders. The GBA in consultation with the National Sports Authority and in pursuance of the Sports Regulation (L.I 1988) is setting out modalities for transforming its operations including the formation of a Committee to charter an agenda for a Congress to adopt a formidable Constitution for its governance and also to elect Executive officials among other crucial matters.
The Ghana Boxing Authority at its Board meeting has caused to be issued a directive to the following bodies to elect (to be supervised by the GBA)National Executives out of which representatives shall be appointed by the body to serve on the Constitutional Committee and also the Congressional Committee:
i. Association of Ring Officials
ii. Coaches and Trainers Association
iii. Promoters and Managers Association
iv. Association of Retired Boxers
v. Boxing matchmakers / Agent Association
vi Professional Boxers Association
Any interested Body which wishes to be considered must duly register with the Ghana Boxing Authority and elected officials must be up-to-date licensees of the GBA.
The Ghana Boxing Authority wishes to notify the general public that upon the inauguration of the various Committees memoranda shall be solicited from interested persons for consideration and adoption in the Constitution to govern the Body.
