America’s rising star Caleb Plant (14-0, 10 KO’s) says he is confident Ghana’s Thomas Awinbono (25-6-1, 21 KO’s) will give him a hell of a time in their upcoming clash on February 25.

The 10-round super middleweight bout between Plant-Awinbono is the main event on the Premier Boxing Champions card and will take place at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

“Awimbono is a big puncher who has been in the ring with some top-level fighters. He’s never been knocked out so I know he’s tough as nails. This will be his second fight of 2017 so I’m expecting him to be in shape and ready to fight. This will be a nice step up fight and one I see myself winning,” Plant said.

On his training ahead of the upcoming bout, the American added.

“Since I moved out to Las Vegas last August, this will be the first full training camp I’ve had out here. We got great sparring with some top competition. My trainer Justin Gamber, who flew out from Nashville and has been with me for the last month. We did everything we needed to do to be prepared for this fight. I’m ready to go.”

Plant won his last fight (August 2016) against Juan De Angel, while Awinbono courtesy a unanimous decision last month lost to Derrick Webster.
