18 year old Ghanaian boxer making waves in Germany

Born 24 June 1997 to Ghanaian parents in Hamburg, Peter Kadiru has won several amateur boxing competitions in Europe.

That Ghana is blessed with boxing talents cannot be overemphasised, D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joshua Clottey, Joseph Agbeko and many others have brought varying degrees of success to this country in the fistic sport.

Another Ghanaian by blood bent on following the legendary path is Peter Kadiru (born 24 June 1997, Hamburg) is a German amateur boxer in the super heavyweight (+91 kg), son of Ghanaian parents lives in Hamburg and trains in BC Tractor Schwerin.

Though still a teenager, Kadiru has excelled in a number of tournaments across Europe, underlying his claim to greatness.

He won in May 2013, the 41st German Junior Championships in Bad Blankenburg by three early wins over Ole Mörer, Georg Anton Goering and Tomi? lasting a a total of about seven minutes only in the ring .

Kadiru was then employed at the 9th Junior World Championships in September of the same year in Kiev, Ukraine. After a victory against Angel Angelov from Bulgaria, however, he was defeated in the second battle against Maksim Kozlov from Belarus to end his quest.

Unfazed however, Kadiru returned stronger and in April 2014, he claimed second place at the 4th World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. After victories against Shokhrukhbek Erkinov from Uzbekistan, Evanders Servuts from Lithuania and Marat Kerimchanow from Russia, he lost only in the final against Darmani rock from the USA by a 1:2 result.

In August 2014, Kadiru participated and won gold at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

He defeated in the semifinals the former European Cadet Champion, Muhamedali Tairov from Azerbaijan by TKO and in the finals this time the current Junior World champion, Darmani Rock from the United States 3: 0 on points.

In October 2014, Kadiru also won the European Youth Championships in Zagreb with victories against Evanders Servuts from Lithuania (3:0), Daniel Dubois from England (2:1), Muhamedali Tairov from Azerbaijan (3:0) and Marat Kerimchanow from Russia (3:0).

This year 2015 he won the super heavyweight, the German Youth Championships in Hamburg by demolishing opponent, Leon Gavanas early in the final.

Peter Kadiru is certainly one to keep an eye on for the future even if he is not fighting under the Ghanaian flag.
