GWF to embark on talent hunt

The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), has initiated plans to recruit young athletes to be trained as weightlifters, as part of efforts to develop the sport in Ghana.

A statement from the GWF, said, the newly recruited athletes, will be used to form Weightlifting Clubs in Accra, by the newly trained Weightlifting coaches recently.

The move is aimed at building a formidable Weightlifting national team by February 2015 for international competitions.

According to the statement, young males & females talents between ages 10 and 22 are requested to contact the coordinator on 0202222062 for further details.

The GWF has over the years been one of the most active sports federations in the country having won several medals in international competitions.

The GWF, is expected to commission a newly constructed gym at the Accra Sports Stadium to serve as the platform training athletes.

According to the information, the Gym is equipped with modern facilities that will bring the best out of the athletes.
