SPORTSPAVE sponsors Cape Coast Hoops

Oct. 17 '09: Cape Coast Hoops is in the history book by receiving its first sponsorship package. Sportspave.com a website gear towards discovering talents in all sports discipline sign a one year sponsorship package with Cape Coast Hoops. Hoops received two sets of basketball jerseys with their logo and that of Sportspave printed on it. An event was organize which officially launched Sportspave in Ghana. The Chairperson of the occasion, Mr. Edward Pappoe, Coach of the Prisons Athletic Team, lauded Sportspave for their gesture. He call on those in the private sectors to support/sponsor lesser sports. In his remarks, the special guest, Hon. Gershun Gbediame, MP of NKwanta South, officially launched Sportspave in Ghana and also ask all youth in sports to make use of the opportunity by going online and register their profile at www.sportspave.com in order to have similar opportunity as Hoops. He also told the Hoops team to live by leadership being the first to receive sponsorship from Sportspave. He than presented the sets of jerseys to the CEO of Cape Coast Hoops, Mr. Claudius Thompson. In his remarks, the CEO thanked Sportspave and encourage players in the team to see this as the beginning of greater things to come their way. He also encourage youth in and outside Ghana to have their profile on Sportspave as it is a medium of getting recruited by teams in and outside the country. A special basketball showcase was held between players of the team showing their skills to the guests. MC for the occasion was Kwesi Amoak

Tudu Wizards spells fail. Lost 56-71 to

July 1, '09: Cape Coast Hoops maintains its impressive run in this year's Greater Accra Amateur Basketball League. This time the lads from Tudu falling victim to the boys from the coast. From the beginning of the game, it showed that the Wizards was no match to the their opponents despite Charles, power forward of Hoops not in the lineup. Wizards even try to field a player who was not register. This show how desperate they were wanting to win at all cost despite loosing almost all of their games so far in the league this season. The first half was very difficult for them as they fought to get their game plan against a man on man defense from Hoops. At the close of first quarter Hoops lead 2-18. They came back fighting strong in the second quarter and by half time they were still down 23-40. The third quarter saw Hoops making use of their bench, bringing in the five players who had not yet had any minutes. The third quarter saw Hoops slowing down in attack and the Wizards took advantage of it and outscore Hoops in the quarter 20-12 reducing the margin at the close of the quarter to 43-52. The last quarter saw Hoops bringing back their starting five players not wanting an upset. Than on Wizards had no answer for the rapid offence and had to resign to defeat. Final Score 56-71. Hoops highest scorer was E. malouta with 15pts, 5assts follow by K. Dewee with 13pts, 3assts. S. Bestman had a fine game scoring 8pts, 8assts, 8rbds, 2stls and a block. Others on the score sheet also included O. Azuazu with 10pts, 4assts and 3blks.

2009 GAABL: Hoops Triumph over Ghana Pol

June 22, '09: There has been changes in the fixtures due to the upcoming national Sports Festival and Milo Games. As a result there are games being play every day at the various venues in and around Accra. This Monday saw the most improve team, Hoops going against Ghana National Police Basketball Team. As usual the Hoops boys were in high spirit and knew already they were going to emerge winners. What they didn't anticipate was the physical nature of the game. Yes, the Police players not wanting to lose this game came out in the first minutes with six straight points. That did not dim the spirit if the boys as the race is not to the swift but he who endures to the end. At the end of first quarter, Hoops led 13-11. The second resume with both sides playing strong defense. At the half time whistle Hoops still held the lead 24-16. This game saw the team scoring its lowest points in a half since the 2009 league began. Third quarter the Police team had no answer to the attacking offence of the Hoops team which took the quarter 41-32. The game began very physical from then on with some of the Hoops players receiving cuts and bruises. They maintain the maturity and at the final buzzer the team won 57-47. O. Azuazu of Hoops was the MVP scoring 18pts, 8rbds and 3assts. Other Hoops scorers included S. Oladipo with 17pts, 4rbds. E. Malouta with 10pts and 5assts. Next match is against Tudu Wizards on the 1st of July. See video

iStand Above donates to Cape Coast Hoops

The “iStand Above” campaign is a nonprofit organization that believes in providing opportunities and knowledge to determined young individuals striving to climb the ladder of success.As part of its objectives a donation was made to the Hoops Basketball CLub after its match against Ghana Fire Service which Hoops won 90-57 retaining its status at the top of the league table. Tesa Asloso and Halim Musah did the donation on behalf of their organization. Items donated were Interactive Drills Workout Book and Videos CD's which will go a long way in the developments of the club players and those in the extramural basketball program including children in the Hoops Care International program as well.We hope and pray other esteem entities out there can emit such kind gesture in helping to improve the game we so love here in Ghana.Thanks iStand Above and surely you stand above.

Cape Coast Hoops in Weekend Actions

Yes, this past Saturday saw the U18 boys and girls and the senior team all three in action at the Lebanon House, Tudu Accra. In the first game, Jr Hoops lost to Tudu Magic 38-40 after blowing a 15pts lead. The second game saw the power of the Hoops Queens as they defeated the female side of Tudu Magic 31-24. The game which saw the Queens playing outside Cape Coast for the first time attracted many admirers that females where also playing well on this side of the country. The main event was the league match between Cape Coast Hoops and Ghana Fire Service. Hoops outclass their opponents in one of their near perfect game since the league started. Final results saw hoops winning an awesome 90-57. The victory jump the team to five victories and one loss(5-1) and still sitting at the top of the league table. Videos to these games coming soon.
