'So So wahala'
Submitted on 2009-10-16 07:25:41 (modified 2009-10-27 04:52:42)
So So Wahala, All Part of the Game

*My eyes and ears failed on that day

But you all know I had my say;

For a lecturer, it’s no big deal

Making an inaugural squeal.

*I know that disability

Is not lack of ability;

You may wonder why mine I hide,

It may be due to foolish pride.

*Fuel prices did I increase

The promise was for price decrease;

But you know that when World Bank strikes

Needy governments make no strides.

*Young Ministers did I appoint

And prayed they would not disappoint;

I’m being pressed for a reshuffle;

Me, their mediocrity will not baffle.

*Chronic liars, they may all sound;

I can’t see myself turning round

To kick supporters in the arse;

Our human resources are scarce.

*Who cares about government size?

That was only a chance to seize

To win the political throne

And forget lies that were home grown.

*Surrounding me, there are some tribes

True, from them I received no bribes

They are in office by default

And that can hardly be my fault

*Muntaka is a bad story

For me that case is history;

I could not stand the extreme heat,

The cover up was not that neat.

*In the wilderness for eight years

With none to dry our falling tears,

The Transition Team was just right;

The hot tea made their dull lives bright.

*We’re in power to catch past thieves

For bad men there’ll be no reliefs;

We don’t care about policy

Our focus is on policing.

*Good policies are on the ground

The real task is to turn things round

But the truth of the matter is

We are not proceeding with ease.

*I wanted to be my own man,

The roaring lion I can’t ban;

From him I receive free insults

Always he wants me to consult;

*In my quiet moments I wonder

And at all times I just ponder

Why on me he is very harsh

And will not appreciate my hush.

*Time, effort and money, he spent

So I can see that he is bent

On reaping what he has just sown;

That is why my lips can be sewn.

I’ve the economy to fix

In my pants I will never piss;

But I am the one with the say,

When will he move out of my way?

*Why am I so tethered to him?

He’s stretching my patience thin,

And can I ever have him caged?Here,

supporters can’t be engaged.

*I gave approval for car loans,

There will also be loans for homes

I expect you to understand

That by me Parliament must stand.

*Health insurance will not cease

When offices, our men seize;

The project is dear to my heart

So things must not be done by heart.

*National ID is a must;

It must not be allowed to rust;

This is really my genuine take

But you know there’s so much at stake.

*The Cape Coast stadium will be built

It will be funded to the hilt;

Although I have a second home

It will not be taken to Ho.

*The pre mix problem would be solved

And then I would’ve gladly resolved

Not to make reckless promises

That would lead to compromises.

*We’ll continue to feed each school,

So resources we have to pool

And avoid the interruption

That may be caused by corruption.

*Not much has been done in Bawku,

All we’ve so far done is bunkum;

We have now come to our wits’ end

So your support, you must now lend.

*All promises I can’t fulfil

No talk about pockets to fill;

No noisy songs about healthcare

The nagging truth must be laid bare.

*Promises can’t be solutions;

Let us apply the right lotions

To ease the economic pain

That has been driving us insane.

*As a leader, I have my style

And that’s where the differences lie;

I proceed with extreme caution

It’s always the best precaution.

*What is revolutionary zeal?

Can that provide a decent meal?

Deep thinking breeds good decision,

That’s true of a man with vision.

*Relax, my brothers and sisters,

Nine months cannot cure the system;

My friend had eight years to succeed

That you know I cannot exceed.

*Several issues have I raised

And I don’t expect to be praised

For none have I handled too well;

I’ll wait for the 2012 bell.

*Friends, do not think I am clueless

The rot is making me helpless

Doomsday is however nowhere near

We have nothing on hand to fear.

EMPTY BARRELS
Submitted on 2009-10-16 07:11:51 (modified 2009-10-16 07:19:54)

EMPTY BARELS

Unbridled noise from loose barrels

A clean bore and a distraction,

Unwelcome sound jars and deafens

It’s music to uncultured ears.

*Rapt hypocritical musings

Stemming from moronic passion

For moribund ideologies

Blares vision for stack reality.

*Screaming, moaning over nothing

Attention seekers stock in trade;

Peddlers of hate and indiscipline

That’s their only ladder to fame.

*Life styles depicting vain affluence

Loose tongues falsely professing love

For the poor and the downtrodden

While they feed fat on their cold sweat.

*Fixated on hackneyed ideas

Obsessed with their own righteousness

Puffy turkeys show vanity

At the least opportunity.

*Parading as knowledge fountains

Emit populist effusions

To a discerning populace

That has had enough rhetoric.

*The isolated crusaders

With fast diminishing influence

Don’t realize that the people

Want critics who can talk and do.

*Critique devoid of solutions

Is an impediment to progress

And this must be forcefully drummed home

To the placard bearing misfits.

SAY IT ALL IN A SONG
Submitted on 2009-10-14 07:45:49 (modified 2009-10-14 08:03:38)

‘BOOMS AND SPEWS’

SPEWS AND BOOMS

*Rough is the political game

We are all treated with disdain

They said I was a cocaine chief

To my face some called me a thief.

*Maybe this was small price to pay

For the benefits that came my way;

Honest service to my nation

Is not an abomination.

*My friend, ignore the Spews and Booms

Who I cannot describe as goons;

They offered this country nothing

They cannot now offer something.

*For you they sang the song of death

And hoped you would soon quit the earth;

They have resorted to treachery

You may be downed by trickery.

*The earth does not spin on their heads;

From their supporters they’ve not heard

That they play the fool and buffoon

With their regular spews and booms.

*Arrogance is self importance

In this very obscene instanceI see a lot of it in Spew

Who has the support of a few.

*When you won power, you were hailed

You will not be spared if you fail

So get all appointees on track

Give non performers a quick sack.

*On you they will continue to pick

They’ll blame you till you get the kick,

But, it’s a face saving device

That for the future they’ve devised.

*Last year on our exploits we harped,

On a bad strategy you mapped,

You echoed lies about government

And suggested fake improvement.

*Well, it is all part of the game

Electoral defeat is no shame

Through these elections we have all gone,

With fortitude the pain was borne.

*In power I had eight year stint

The Spews and the Booms do not think

You even deserve first term now

Imminent defeat is drawing nigh.

*You can succeed as President

When there are no impediments

Booms and Spews throw in your way,

To destroy your work for the day.

*Out of the country I travelled

At the number, people marvelled;

They screamed far too many trips

When I had grants in my grips.

*Travelling has been a hobby

For that I do not lobby;

I am still making my trips

None mentions per diems and tips

*On foreign travels you’ll proceed

I pray that with mine yours don’t exceed,

If they do, you will surely fall

And I will then stand ten feet tall.

*To you, I’ll continue to talk

I don’t want Ghana’s progress stalked

By destructive criticisms

From some of her known citizens

*When you are bashed by your mentor

And supported by the ‘Doctor’

Your head is in the pillory

That’s their immediate priority.

*They will bash you in the open

Because they are only hoping

That through them nobody will see

And so they will sting like the bee.

*Esseku once had me disturbed

Like you, I remained unperturbed;

This is going beyond all jokes

What is happening to these blokes?

*Attention seekers I abhor

I find their behaviour a bore;

To me they are just too noisy

The game they play is plain lousy.

*When Boom is seen as a saviour

And few see through Spew’s behaviour

Sinful Satan then sets the stage

For the leader to be upstaged.

*For an aspiring President

Spew is setting bad precedent

To rock the political boat

And for some time keep it afloat.

*There is no clean game anywhere

Have you seen a clean game somewhere?

Some games are dirtier than others

They’re dirtiest within our borders.

*Soon the ex leaders will be three

We shall lavishly live for free

At the expense of the poor State

That was what Chenery Hesse stated.

*Do not worry about the insults

The focus must be on results

That will be an ample award

If bashing is now your reward.

AVOID TRIBALISM
Submitted on 2009-07-23 09:00:25 (modified 2009-07-23 09:07:17)

DO AWAY WITH TRIBALISM

*We shall never have a choice

To say what should be our tribe;

Even if we had a voice

The Creator we cannot bribe.

*Together we must decide

Not to demean our good friends;

The creator does not preside

Over those who act like fiends.

*Cry not over what you can’t change

You’re in a tribe as a right

You have no right to act strange

By putting up a bad fight.

*Be tolerant at all times

At all times stick to the truth

And when the Heaven bell chimes

You are likely to go through.

*The Creator you cannot blame

For you He knows what is good

For others He does the same

So remain in a good mood.

*Simply act with decorum

In your response to a post

On the discussion forum

Don’t play the mischievous ghost.

*Eschew tribal arrogance

That inflames tribal passion;

Don’t act out of ignorance

Since none will have compassion.

*You hurl one tribal insult

Which you think does not matter

You hurt people as a result

And would be friends you scatter.

*No need to seek attention

By playing the tribal card

They’ll attack your intention

And on you they will be hard.

GIVING THE TRUTH A POLITICAL TWIST
Submitted on 2009-07-18 19:36:38 (modified 2009-07-18 19:42:04)
GIVING THE TRUTH A POLITICAL TWIST

“When I won the right to speak for the President, I thought that ‘at long last the battle was over and I was free forever.’ Little did I know that I was dealing with cunning political strategists and schemers who would never give up on anybody the messiah and saint wanted ditched and replaced. When these evil men persuaded me to procure the tractors and promised to assist me to pay for them, I did not know they had a grand plan to embarrass, disgrace and push me out of the castle. I suspected nothing because they told me the tractors would help me win back the seat I lost in the last election. They also told me nobody would know how the tractors were purchased. They were the very people who leaked the deal to the saint and messiah and then to the press. This was exactly how they treated Munkata. They assisted and facilitated the forwarding of the seventeen allegations against Muntaka to the joint Presidents of Ghana. Greed did not push me into this bizarre act. I genuinely wanted to help the farmers in my constituency and I also would need their votes in 2012. I never asked why they were not interested in the tractors. Northerners are not treacherous. They are loyal. So whenever and wherever we find disloyal and treacherous individuals, we are dumbfounded.

I can see clearly now. Hear the bashing from the saint and messiah. He will not wait for an investigation to be completed before castigating me for my perceived greed. He is actually finishing the job the shadow ministers he had imposed on the President started. He did not say anything when Alex Segbefia lied about the $10,000 payment for the landing rights in Ivory Coast. This is tribal politics for you. I think Ghanaians must sit up because this is now more than a joke. There is a clear tribal agenda that is being executed to perfection. I am not crying wolf. I am also not preaching divisive politics. I am only reporting divisive politics. The messiah is even undermining the authority of President Mills with weekly allocation of insults, and Mills is all the time being told that this is done to make him appear to be his own man and not remotely controlled by the saint.”

Quietly and sadly he willl sing the song he composed when he was studying for his GCE O Levels and hope for the worse.

*It is now our very lives that is at stake

They must now know that we are wide-awake

They cannot take us for a weary ride

We know our rights and we have our pride

*None can have us subdued

Nor have our power reduced,

We are not here to be misused

To produce and be abused.

*We are not yet their beasts of burden

To bow always to their bidding

And accept their beastly beating;

We are fellow men with feeling.

*Our right to work we must defend

Support to the cause we must lend

For ourselves and families to fend

We carry the struggle to the end.

*Fellow Northerners unite

Do fight with all you might

For what’s always your right

Victory is just in sight.

I AM HUMAN
Submitted on 2009-07-18 19:09:43 (modified 2009-07-18 19:20:20)
I AM HUMAN

*On Amoateng I was soft

And held dear Alan aloft;

Rivals on all sides flared,

On me no insults were spared.

*On Anane I was cool

But that did not help the stool

That should have gone to Addo

Without really much ado.

*On Ya Naa I did nothing

When all expected something

And that cost us all the votes

From our deprived northern hosts.

*I gave myself a gold chain

And that became a bad stain

On the high office I held

But praises were what I heard.

*Office holders love kick back

It is naïve to sit back

Fold hands and hope for the best

That’s what I’ll not do with zest.

*Out of the country I travelled

At the number, people marvelled;

They screamed far too many trips

When I had aid in my grips.

*With all these, I never failed

My achievements are hailed

My job for generations

Will cause no lacerations.
