punishment in secondary school
Submitted on 2008-05-22 14:19:36 (modified 2008-05-30 15:48:21)

my dear reader, My name is Jamirah Ahmed and i have done a lot of thinking about some rules in secondary school and i dont really get it. i need help in answering some questions. im sure i have gone through the constitution of ghana really well but i still dont know if is enough!

Does the constitution at any point say we should go to school with short hair? i am really wondering. Because i dont think it makes any sense, With all those people(some) who just go the the doctor and get a fake note or whatever so they can keep their hair long . I mean, im not gonna die with short hair but seriously, i wanna know if it is stated anywhere in the constitution.

Secondly, the uneccessary punishments in school. I just dont get it. Some students ( i was one) are so scared because most teachers scare them off by carrying cains in class. Some students see teachers as monsters instead of people who we can rely on to learn something. I just think it makes no sense, when my fellow friends want to be teachers because they can also beat students up. Seriously, do You? Is just ridiculous that we have to be cained like animals.

Not just in secondary school, imagine your 3 year old sister or brother.going to school and being punished, goodness, for God sake, 3 year old baby. im willing to stand out i just need people who see it to be right too. please contact me if u have any idea

youth of ghana
Submitted on 2008-04-29 13:24:38 (modified 2008-05-30 15:48:42)

It makes me happy when i think about how the youth in Ghana are trying all their best to push themselves out of poverty. But my heart is filled with sorrow when i see the fortunate ones reclining on their parents. I grew from a decent family with very supportive parents and i know what it means to be determined,( i guess). But some kids, perchance, are talented to see the world in a different way if they have seen the world in a different way.

What are we doing with our life, sitting around and boasting of our parents wealth. Are we blind enough not to see how our parents agony for our better future? My Dear reader, have u by chance gone through what it means to be a street kid or to have no shelther. I know we are young and we have not seen how life can be a plague. It takes so much courage to be outstanding and i think Ghanaian kids are blessed with this.

Why do we always have to wait for answers? Why do always have to wait for solutions from the western cultures? It doesnt take much to be a hero. I am seventeen years of age and i grew up in Bekwai Ashanti. Coming from a big family, i know my goals and how badly I want them fulfilled. We don't have to be rich to fufill our dreams. I think is about time we all stood to accept our actions. You maybe lucky to have being in a classroom, how about someone who doesn't even sit in a class. No matter what situation we find ourselves, let us support our parents and do our best for they love us.

My name is Jamirah Ahmed. If you think we can do better as kids, please contact me. I will be more than glad to form an association with you.
