OJ urges musicians to go beyond working for awards

Award winning gospel musician OJ has urged colleague musicians to go beyond working for awards but to meet the needs of the people and also raise the bar to an appreciable level.

“For me I keep on telling people to do something beyond an award. Give to people more than they expect so that they will forever fall in love with you,” OJ said.

The ‘Obi Nya Waye’ singer made this disclosure in an interview with Florence Naa Oyoe Quartey at the 2015 MOGO Concert and Awards Night where he won the Best Original Gospel Act Award.

OJ said he was very excited about winning the award which had the likes of Tagoe Sisters and Daughters of Glorious Jesus in the category.

“I think about the people so I feel excited about the award which also goes a long way to validate the fact that when you do a good job you will definitely be recognized, so I’m truly grateful”, he added.

OJ expressed his desire to impact on the generation ahead through his music and "not what only makes me excited or tickles my emotions”.
